Spring Makeup Shake Up

So I don't know what has happened to my skin but a lot of my makeup favourites have just stopped working for me. Some of them have been my favourites for years. So obviously it's quite annoying having to find new products which work for me but it was a great opportunity to try out some new makeup products. I'm not going to write about every single makeup product I use because 1) I'm still trying things and 2) because it would be an even longer blog post. But I'm going to write about products I've either picked up lately or things which have been in my makeup collection and not been tested much and why I'm loving them.

Concealer

After trying out many concealers since my Collection Lasting Perfection has started to let me down I've rounded it down to two new favourites. I've been loving the Seventeen Skin Wow Concealer (£4.99) in the shade light. It's very thick and creamy and the coverage is really good for the price. I can understand why people say it's a dupe to the YSL Touche Eclat. It's not the most amazing coverage on blemishes depending if the blemish is small/big and red or not but it's great for the under eyes, so that's definitely a good thing for me!

Another concealer I've been loving is the Lottie London Got It Covered Concealer (£4.95) in the shade Shell. I will say that the colour isn't the greatest considering it's the lightest shade and it's quite orange. But if you apply it in small amounts and build it up if needed, it seems to work just fine. But on the plus side, the coverage of this concealer is insane! and it stays in place all day, as long as it is set with powder and definitely covers up blemishes and under eye circles just fine.

Powder

I'm not that bothered about what powder I use, as long as it does it's job and doesn't leave me looking orange/yellow because let's face it, some makeup brands have "Porcelain" or "Translucent" shades and they end up being a muddy orange colour. Which is not a good look. Thankfully this Collection Primed and Ready Invisible Setting Powder (£3.99) is a great shade for my Wednesday Addams-like pale skin. It definitely makes my skin look smoother and keeps my makeup in place. I like that the powder is powered by "Witch" too because it calms down any breakouts and also it feels so lightweight when I'm wearing it too.

Eyeshadow

Because of the change of season I've changed up my eyeshadow and been wearing more pinks, neutrals and I've also been loving bronzes/oranges too. The palettes I've been using most have been the 12K Glitz Cosmetics palette* from Belles Beauty (£10.99) and also the MUA Amour Palette (£4.99). Both of the palettes are great travel-sized palettes, high pigmented and they both have some very lovely shades.

Blusher

As I've said before I'm a blusher hoarder lol but I've managed to get it down to two Spring favourites. The first is the Seventeen Blusher (£2.99) in the shade China Pink which I bought on a whim last year. It is quite a vibrant blush but if used lightly it looks lovely. The next is the Benecos Natural Powder Blush* (£5.95) I think this is my go to blusher right now, I just automatically go for this blusher the most lately. It gives me a nice healthy look and it stays in place all day. You can read my full review of this blusher plus more Benecos products I was sent here

Highlighter

For highlighter, I'm sticking with my faithful Collection Speedy Highlighter (£3.99) in the shade Pearl Sheen. I picked this up late last year and I use it often and I've still got plenty left which you wouldn't think for cream highlighter stick. I'm also loving the Freedom Pro Highlighter (£3). It's a great subtle everyday highlighter but can be built into a dazzling glow highlighter in seconds too.

Eyebrows

The two eyebrow products I've been using to tame my annoying eyebrows are the Technic Brow Pen Eyebrow Definer (£2) in the shade Dark Brown. Looking at the packaging you wouldn't think that the shade would be proper dark brown but it is! It's so good that I've found a really cheap eyebrow definer that's the exact right colour for my brows and does the job. I also like to fact that it's not too pen-like and gives out enough product and is easy to build if wanted. Such a good product for just £2! My full review of the products I was sent from Technic will be on my blog next week.

The other product I've been liking is the Soap and Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil (£10) in the shade Brownie Points. I got this in a gift set at Christmas and it isn't exactly the right shade for me but it's okay for now. I think if I decide to buy this again I'll pick up the Dark Chocolate shade. But it is a good brow pencil and does what it should, I don't use the brow tint side because I just don't get it. It's too harsh and bold so it's a no from me. I talked more about why I don't like brow tint in this post

Eyeliner

I'm not someone who can do winged eyeliner in a few minutes, I literally have to put at least 30 minutes aside just in case it goes horribly wrong (like it usually does) but when I do use liquid eyeliner I love the Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner (£6) in Carbon Black. It doesn't crack or flake off like some eyeliners do and it super affordable.

For pencil eyeliner, I've been loving the Soap and Glory Crazy Sexy Khol Eyeliner which again, I got in a gift set at Christmas. It's a limited edition eyeliner so I'm going to leave the link of the Soap and Glory Smoulder Khol (£5) here which I also love and was usually religiously before I started using the Crazy Sexy Khol eyeliner.

I've also just realised that I have a lot of favourites from Soap and Glory right now lol.

Lipsticks/Lip Creams

Finally, I'm onto my lipsticks/lipcreams. There's a whole bunch of lipsticks and creams I'm planning on wearing during Spring and Summer (considering I purged a lot of my lip products not too long ago, I still seem to have loads left oops). But I've chosen the 3 I've been wearing most since the start of Spring.

I picked up the Collection Velvet Kiss Lip Cream (£2.99) in shade Caramel not too long ago and it's probably my all time fave lip cream right now. It compliments my pale skin and it's a great everyday lip shade. Plus it's a bargain for £2.99! You can read my review of the Velvet Kiss Lip Creams here.

Next on my list is the Rimmel The Only One Lipstick (£6.99) in the shade Naughty Nude. I got this in my March Pink Parcel box and it definitely doesn't disappoint! It's a kind of my lips but better kind of shade. It's a pink-brown shade, it's really creamy and even though it's a lipstick you do have you touch up during the day, I just love it and it smells kind of like watermelon too.

The final thing on my Spring Makeup Shakeup is the AVON True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick (£8) in the shade Adoring Love. This shade isn't something I'd wear often but it's really pretty and a great Spring/Summer shade to wear and great to give a boring outfit a pop of colour too. I love that it literally doesn't budge all day either and it's affordable and often on offer too.

I've added the swatches of the lipsticks/creams below -

So there's my Spring Makeup Shake Up. This post is the reason why I didn't do a March Favourites but I will be doing a March/April Favourites at the beginning of May to make up for it. I hope you liked reading this post!
