3 Easy Ways To Get Blogging Opportunities

I've been meaning to write a post about this for a while as I seem to get quite a few people each week dropping into my DMs asking "how do you get sent PR or get paid opportunities?". I also get the cheeky ones who outright demand for PR contact details which annoys the hell out me. By the way, if you are reading this and have ever asked me or any other blogger for PR details then we can get into trouble handing out emails freely because of the new Data Protection laws that came in back in May. Just saying. Anyway enough of my little rant, here are a few simple ways to get more blogging opportunities which usually work for me.

1) Join the UK Influencer Opportunities and Official UK Bloggers pages on Facebook and also follow accounts which share and RT opportunities like my Blogger Opps page on twitter which I try and update it either daily or every other day. The page is open for any type of blog genre and for bloggers all over the world.

2) Reach out and email Brands or PR's! I get that it's pretty scary reaching out to your fave brands or PR's which look after many known brands but most PR's are super nice and friendly and reply back within a matter of a few days. If you're mainly a beauty and lifestyle blogger like myself then here are some PR companies you could reach out to - Sparkle, Catalyst, Alex Silver, Flipside, Fluorescent and Kilpatrick.

If you don't know what to write in your first email then keep it short and sweet and just say something like -

"Hi there,

My name is  ----,

I'm a "genre(s) here" blogger and I just wanted to introduce myself and my blog to you. My blog is "blog name here" and I have been blogging since ----. I'm reaching out today as I'm currently looking for some brands to work with and feature on my blog and I just wanted to see if you're looking for new bloggers to work with or to add to your PR list? If so, then I would love to be considered!

Here are my details "details here (blog link, insta, twitter)" and if you would like any further information then please let me know.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Many thanks,

"Your name here"
"blog link here"

- end of email -

Obviously you don't have to write exactly as I have above but I just wanted to put an example kind of email in this post because I do have a few messages here and there saying how do you introduce yourself to brands and PR's etc. If I'm being honest, once you've emailed one or two it'll become so much easier. The worst thing that can happen is them to reply and say "No sorry, we're not interested" or not reply at all. That's it. Also another little tip which might help is to make the email more personal and say why you would love to work with the brand/PR and maybe talk about your fave product by them or by the client they look out for.

3) Lastly is to put out a request on Twitter by using the #prrequest hashtag. If you follow me on twitter then you'll probably see me putting out requests often for either sponsored posts or review opportunities and most days I do get emails saying "Hey Kirsty, we saw your request and think we could work together" and things like that. So it does work. I've added an example below from my twitter. Always remember to add the hashtag #prrequest if you do put out a request and you could also add your DA score too but sometimes I find that brands automatically look at your DA score and think "nope" rather than actually looking at your work first. So I guess it's up to you if you choose to add it in or not. I mix it up - sometimes I do and sometimes I don't include my DA score.

I hope this helped if you're struggling to get opportunities or wanting some tips on how to reach out to PRs and brands. Obviously I'm not claiming to be a pro at this and I'll be honest I kind of just go along with it and hope for the best.

  2. Sadly #prrequests never seem to work for me but I'm glad they do for you and I totally agree with being proactive and sending out polite emails! I've worked with a few brands by reaching out to them first, the worst that they can say is no and even then they make keep you on file for future opps so it's all good!

  3. This is so helpful! I've not reached out to brands/prs for a while, I've definitely lost my confidence with it this year but the template is so helpful and like you said, the worst they can do is say no. Fab tips xx

  7. YES! This post is definitely needed! I don't get opportunities much, although since May they have just appeared out of nowhere! :O I've had a few people message me online asking how I "get free stuff" and urgh it's so annoying. xD

This guide is amazing and I've got it bookmarked for future! I've recently started contacting brands who I would love to work with and it is so daunting and scary, but it's worth it when you hear back from them! :D
