A LUSH Haul

I haven’t actually bought anything from LUSH for a while for various different reasons but last week I decided to treat myself to some new products and some old faves in an attempt to cheer me up whilst I try and battle my current daily health problems which my doctors just can’t be arsed to properly diagnose and help me in the right way with. I wanted to pick up more body products rather than bath bombs as I tend to opt for showers more so than baths at the minute.

The main reason I wanted to place an order was because I wanted to pick up the Hottie Massage Bar to see if it’d help with any aches and pains and my ongoing pelvic pain and back problem in particular. I haven’t gotten around to trying it properly and consistently yet but I do like the peppery, warm invigorating scent and I do hope it does something to help.

When the Christmas range is released I can’t resist a cute little Butterbear Bath Bomb. It doesn’t put on a huge colourful display like most LUSH bath bombs and to be it bluntly, its bit of a boring bath bomb, however it looks cute, smells lovely and also leaves my skin feels super soft - thanks to the cocoa butter!

Because of my love for the fresh and floral Ylang Ylang scent of Butterbear I decided to pick up the newly released Butterbear Shower Jelly. I’ll admit I’m not the hugest fan of the shower jellies as I find them a bit awkward to use and if they had released it in shower gel form I would’ve chosen that instead. But it’s (just) okay, it doesn’t really smell as delicate as the bath bomb, it’s has more of a overpowering, almost overbearing scent. So I don’t know if I’d personally buy it again if I’m being totally honest but hey, at least it’s in a cute bear shape and I do think it’d make a cute Christmas stocking filler for someone who doesn’t own a bath or prefers showers in general.

Rub Rub Rub Body Scrub is one of my fave body scrubs and probably one of my favourite lush products of all time, I love the Mimosa and Orange Flower scent (it’s the same as the Sakura bath bomb which again I love). The only problem is that I use it up so quickly! It’s particularly good if my skin is being super sensitive as the exfoliating sea salt grains aren’t too harsh on the skin. I really wish they’d make a shower gel version of it/the scent because it’s such an uplifting lovely scent.

Big Shampoo is one of those products that works really well but also has a few cons. First of all the scent is so nice! It’s fresh and really wakens up your senses,
so it’s great to use first thing in the morning. It works well to remove any build up of product and/or dirt which is fab considering I’ve become very dependent on dry shampoo thanks to being unwell every day. The cons: I feel like you have to use quite a lot to get the full potential and sometimes the salt pieces literally scratch your scalp - yep, ouch, because they are so big (no pun intended). It is a product I do go back to time and time again though but if you have a super sensitive scalp then I'd probably say steer clear of Big.

I knew I wanted to pick up some relaxing scents so I obviously opted for my fave bath bomb which is the Twilight bath bomb. Which happens to be the first bath bomb I ever tried from LUSH too. It’s super relaxing and smells so calming, thanks to the Lavender, Tonka and Ylang Ylang but it’s not too overpowering like some Lavender scents can be. Another Lavender scented option I picked up is the Sleepy Body Lotion which is another I already know I love, it definitely helps with anxiety - particularly at night and I do think it helps a little with my sleep. So when I saw that they had recently released Sleepy in shower gel form, I had to pick up it! I do like it but I found it to be a little more overpowering in scent compared to the body lotion. But they’re definitely a good duo to have at hand if you’re struggling to sleep or feeling stressed over general day to day life things.

Have you picked up anything from LUSH recently or do have you eyes on any of the Halloween/Christmas range products?

  3. I used Twilight the other day and it was my first time trying it. It was lovely, so pretty in the water and as you say, not overpoweringly lavender!
