I know YouTubers usually do these more than people who blog but I thought I'd just do this because I really wanted to talk about these products. I was really surprised how well some of these performed but then there's a few which I'm disappointed about. (PS who loves my empties bag. It's so pretty. I did buy it for a gift but ended up keeping it for myself haha)

Elvive Shampoo + Conditioner

Oh my god these are so amazing! They have totally transformed my hair. Everyone in my house is hooked on these now too thanks to me. They smell really fresh and my hair looks and feel so much more fuller when I use these. All I can say is if you haven't tried these then go out and get them. (Also recommend the hair mask too these too!)

Would I repurchase? Already have. I'm pretty much stocked up for the next few months (yes really!)

Mitchum Pure Fresh Deodorant
So this was my mistake I picked up the wrong one. I thought I'd picked up the Shower Fresh scented one but instead I picked this up. The smell is just disgusting. I think it literally smells worse than BO. I've used it a few times just in case it's one of the sprays that smells different once it's on your skin... it's not. I put it in my body spray basket which I have in my room when I realised it's just not for me and kind of forgot about it and when I was re organising my room the other day I realised it'd leaked out everywhere but I'm not sad about that at all. I was more annoyed that I had to spend a good half hour cleaning all my body spray bottles and things with wipes to get this horrible smell off.

Would I repurchase? I think you can guess what my answer is...

Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub

Now moving onto to something which I adore. This is the best body scrub I've ever used and I think it's probably one of the best smells I've ever smelled in skin care products too. It literally smells like maple syrup. It's really sweet but not a overpowering sickly sweet smell and it's a really good thick scrub which works wonders if you have sensitive skin and these pots seem to last a while. I Always use this when I'm having a pamper kind of day or evening.

Would I repurchase? Already have!

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel
I got three 100g bottles of this last Christmas and in the Boxing Day sales. I've only got one more left! Can't wait to get my hands on a 250g bottle in October. It reminds me of fairgrounds just because it smells like candy floss and it's a really good shampoo as well as shower gel. I have found a kind of dupe to this which you can read about here if you do end up running out of Snow Fairy before the Christmas range is released.

Would I repurchase? Yup, definitely.

Boots Cucumber Wipes
Yes I know this is a boring one so I'll keep it short and sweet. I know wipes aren't supposed to be the best things to use when you have oily/spot prone skin but these have cleared my skin up a lot. But because I was getting through a lot of these wipes a week I've decided to just use them here and there and mainly use them for eye make up removal and use micellar water to remove any foundation etc.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

Sure Compressed Bright Bouquet Deodorant

Time for a rant! Guess how long this lasted?? 5 days! I really do not believe in these compressed deodorants. I only bought it to give it a try and see what it smelled like. I literally used it once a day and it lasted 5 days. It's supposed to hold the equivalent as an 150ml can. I don't think so. I personally think its lies and basically just a money making scheme that they've all jumped onto. Give me a proper sized can spray any day I'll throw a roll on deodorant in my bag from now on.

Soap and Glory Hand Food Lotion

Another amazing Soap and Glory product. I suffer with quite dry hands around this time of the year. I bought this for the first time about a year ago and it's helped so much. This compact hand cream is only £2.50 and I use it all the time and it's lasted about 6 months. A little goes a long way and it smells like the Original Pink scent which I adore.

Would I repurchase? Already got two more tubes (one was in a free gift set)

Lush Cup o Coffee
There's only a few Lush products that I've tried that I don't like much and this is one of them unfortunately. I thought I'd buy this because I'm a coffee lover and I know coffee is supposed to make your skin look brighter and fresher. I did love it at first but then I found it to be too gritty and it was making my skin dry out. It was also stinging my skin a little too. So instead of using it on my face I used it up as a body scrub.

Would I repurchase? Nope.

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Blur and Brighten Crayon
This ran out a few months ago but I found it lurking in my make up case for some reason so I thought I'd write about it. I was really excited when I bought this to get it home and try it because I usually love S&G products. When I did try it I was disappointed straight away. It's really oily and creamy and it sits in your creases quite badly. I did manage to fix it from doing that by applying loose powder over it but after trying to persevere with it for a few days it was running out (because it's so creamy it melted really fast when applying
) and I was also breaking out in spots and I stopped using it.

Would I repurchase? No.

So there's my September empties! Hope you enjoyed this post. Have you tried any of these products, if so did you love/hate them? x

So today I'm writing about the Garnier Olia Hair Colourant in the shade Dark Garnet 4.62. I've been debating on buying this dye for so long because it says it's an "oil powered" dye I thought it's make my hair all greasy and horrible. But I was really due a hair dye because I hadn't dyed my hair in around two months because I was trying to decide on what to do with it next because I fancied a big change.

I've been on and off a red head for a while now.  My usual go to red dye over the past year has been the Schwarzkopf Live Intense Colour in shade Cherry Mahogany 048. I do really love the colour and it's always on some sort of offer in Boots but it fades quite quickly. I was wondering whether to go a lot lighter and maybe have the ombre effect but because it is Autumn now and I'm really pale I thought it might wash me out and make me look really sick. So I've decided to stick with deeper tones to warm up my face.

Anyway back to talking about my thoughts on the Garnier Olia...

 It comes with:

  • Colourant Cream
  • Devoloper Cream
  • A Cute Applicator Bottle
  •  Instructions
  •  Black Gloves
  • After Colour Care Conditioner (which I've used before and loved)

Because I was doing a kind of root retouch and it was a similar-ish colour to my faded red I chose the "Root Regrowth" option from the instructions leaflet and applied the product to my roots for 20 minutes and then did my mid lengths and ends and left on for 10 minutes as instructed. The smell of the dye isn't too bad, I'm guessing because it doesn't have any Ammonia in it but it could be better. But then it is better than the sickly pomegranate smell that I'm used to with the Schwarzkopf hair dye. Also I think you do get more product than you do with other brands because one box did my whole head of hair and my hair is past my shoulders. You can tell it is an "oil powered" dye because you can feel it when it's on your head. It's strange.

Once I'd rinsed off the dye which did take longer than usual, I applied the lovely smelling Olia After Care Conditioner and left on for around 5 minutes and rinsed away. I left my hair in my towel for about 15 minutes and then blow dried. I could tell my hair was a lot darker than I expected with not a lot of red in it at all. So I was a tad shocked at the difference from the box colour and the hair colour staring back at me in the mirror. It wasn't the colour I was expecting at all.

I'm writing this now, two days later. I washed my hair and deep conditioned yesterday and the remains of any hair dye has come out and the colour has settled more now. It's an nice, autumnal colour but still not the colour I was aiming for. When I'm near the sunlight the red tint shows up but most of the time it's just an dark brown. But for now I think I'm going to stick to it and I might grow to love it. But as you can tell on the before and after pictures below there's a big difference. My current hair colour shows no red even though it is supposed to be a lovely deep red colour.

P.S I apologise for both of my hair pictures. The first picture is the unwashed hair before dying so it looks gross and the second picture is today and I literally just don't feel like doing anything with my natural, bedhead hair today tbh.

Before (faded Cherry Mahogany shade by Schwarzkopf)
After so called "Dark Garnet" shade by Garnier Olia

No Ammonia
Unusual packaging inside (Gloves, Teardrop applicator)
Large amount of After Care Conditioner
A good colour for Autumn/Winter

Smell could be nicer
Price (Pricier than my usual dye)
Took a long time to wash out
Looks nothing like the hair colour on the box

Would I buy again?

I may try a different shade sometime and see how that goes. But if that turns out a different colour again then definitely not!

So there's my review on the Garnier Olia range. If you've tried it before then what's your thoughts? Did the colour turn out wrong like mine? (lol) Thanks for reading! I seem to be on a roll today writing posts so a new post should be up either on Monday/Tuesday.

I just want to start this with the fact that my skin hasn't really been accepting of my foundation lately. My usual go to foundation which is Max Factor Facefinity 3-in-1 in Light Ivory just seems to not be doing it's job anymore. Quite annoying because I thought I'd found THE foundation. So yes I was in the market for a new foundation but didn't want to really spend more than about £15. I'd been reading about best drugstore foundations and the L'oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation popped up everywhere and it was only £7.99 in most stores so I was intrigued.

A few days later whilst I was shopping I bought it but the lightest shade on the stand was Vanilla. I tested in store and it seemed a good match. Then I got it back home and tried it by doing a full face of make up and it was way too orange for my skin. So I admit I was quite disappointed... maybe it was the lighting in the store? But apart from the colour making me look as if I'd head planted a bowl of wotsits it seemed good. It was covering my imperfections and it's staying power was strong but definitely not a 24 hour foundation. But I think if a foundation stopped on well for about 10 hours I'd be over the moon. But hey, that's me.

Anyway after thinking that the foundation itself was impressive I got my hands on the Porcelain shade by buying it online. I went ahead and did another full face of make up and applying it with my Real Techniques sponge and I wasn't as impressed. The shade is okay to a point but not what I'd call porcelain. I do feel it does mesh into my skin well and is very lightweight. But it's the fact that during the day it gathers on my jawline even though I've blended it really well and it has a orange tinge and also it doesn't cover my imperfections as much as the vanilla shade. I have to use at least double the amount of product I used to use whilst using my Facefinity to get a good cover amount.

I feel as if for me it's more like a medium coverage (not full coverage at all!) and I only use it if I'm having a more of a good skin day. So in all honesty I just feel like I've wasted almost £20 on make up that I probably won't use much. But I will persevere with it and keep giving it a go until the tube is empty. But unless it all of a sudden starts working for me I don't think I'll be repurchasing it.

The plus side to all of this is that the foundation I was using before I got hooked on the Max Factor Facefinity was the Revlon Color Stay in the shade Buff and I found my last bottle in my room after trying the L'Oreal Infallible and I've tried that whilst using my Real Techniques sponge and it goes on so much better than it used to when I was just using brushes and it doesn't feel cakey on my skin anymore. So after all this I think I may be going back to my old favourite.

I've added in some swatches below so you can see the different shades I've tried.

I know the lighting isn't great. sorry!

So there's my thoughts on the L'Oreal infallible. Sorry to disappoint any of you who were thinking of giving this a try but I definitely wouldn't recommend (I think I might be the only one lol) Thanks for reading! Will be posting again later in the week x

Lush Samples Review

in , , , , by Kirsty Milward, 16.9.16

These three samples were random and I didn't ask for any specific ones as I normally do. I have shown these on my Mini Lush Haul post from a few weeks ago and I've finally used them this week. Here's my thoughts about them.

First up is the Ocean Salt Self Preserving Face and Body Scrub
I did say in the my previous Lush post that I've tried this before and didn't like the smell. But I said I'd give it another try just for the sake of it. Well I tried it... and I still hate the smell. The product itself is brilliant, it's more grittier than my favourite body scrub from Lush which is Rub Rub Rub. But I can't get past the smell. To me it smells like stagnant salty water. It's ew. I've just read about the smells that are actually in it and I don't understand why it smells like it does. There's grapefruit, vodka, avocado, lime and more. All of them things I don't mind the smell of. It's strange. But I definitely wouldn't purchase this. Ever.

Next is the Five O Clock Whistle Shaving Cream
I know this is aimed for men to use but I got it in my free samples and the sample pot was filled to the brim so I'm not complaining. I was quite worried that it'd smell really masculine but it totally doesn't. At first I couldn't put my finger on the smell but now I've looked on the Lush website and the first thing that pops up is lime. Now it makes sense it smells like lemon and lime. So I've used it and I do like it. It smells fresh and clean. It smells a little like one of the Dove deodorants but I don't know which one. It does seem quite clay-ish so it has got stuck quite badly in my new razor so I've had to throw it away. But I think I would purchase it but I wouldn't use it all the time because it is quite expensive £7.95 for 90g.

Lastly is the Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair Shower Gel
Hello my new favourite Lush discovery. This smells so good! I've definitely never come across this smell in any other shower or bath products for. Can't really describe what it is but it's lovely.  I am definitely going to buy this once my product ban is over... Yes, we've decided in my house that we have so many shower and bath products that we're not going to be buying anymore until all of them (well, majority of them) are used up. I'm allowing myself to buy my all time fave Rose Jam shower gel once its released (does anyone know when?) but that's all. It's going to be hard lol. But we could probably open a shop with all the products we seem to have hoarded in the bathroom. Anyway I think this shower gel is a good price at £5.95 for 100g. It lathers so well with such a small amount of product so a little will go a long way.

That's all for now.. Hope you enjoyed reading my samples review! Will be posting again at the beginning of next week sometime so keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for reading.

So I know there's mixed feelings about Autumn for a lot people. But I love it. I know some of you reading this might think what, why? So I thought I'd write some things about I'd rather it over summer.
Here's my reasons why I adore Autumn so much:

The transition of colours
Mainly I love the leaves changing colour and falling and there's nothing more better than walking over a really crunchy leaf. Also I love changing up the colours of lipstick shades and nail polishes I wear more deeper colours.

The crisp air
Walking into crisp air definitely wakes me up and I think it feels quite refreshing.

Hot drinks taste so much better
Hot Chocolate? Yes please! It's true, hot drinks taste so much better and make you feel so much better when the weather gets colder.

Snuggly jumpers, fleece blankets and fluffy socks
I have already got some of my favourite comfy jumpers and cardigans at the ready for the cooler days. On the first of September I got all of my winter type tartan print scarves out too. So bring it on.

Buying new perfume and candles
I don't know if it's just me but I always tend to change the scent of perfumes I wear each season. So for Spring I like fresh, floral scents. Summer I like more fruity scents and in Autumn/Winter I like warm, rich, spicier scents. The same goes for candles. Is this just me?

Halloween is just around the corner
I love Halloween. I like trying out more bold and some scary make up looks (but they always fail badly) and watching scary films.

New seasons of TV shows
I'm so excited for Once Upon A Time and American Horror Story and a few more shows that I can't think off the top of my head.

Feeling just generally cosy
I love getting that cosy, warm, fuzzy feeling.

Buying Christmas presents early
Uh yes I'm one of the crazy ones. I know some of you probably aren't even thinking or want to think about Christmas yet. But I do tend to buy a few around September/October just because I love Christmas shopping and if I see something in a sale and I know it's perfect for someone and it's saving me money then why not?

Extra bubbly bubble baths
Baths are just the same as hot drinks in the Autumn/Winter. They're just better. Nothing better than walking through your front door from the cold weather and having a nice hot bubble bath. My favourite thing to use for a treat is the Butterball or Butterbear bath bomb from Lush. Instant soft, moisturised skin. Yay!

So there's my reasons. Thanks for reading!

What's your favourite thing about Autumn?

Today is Tuesday 30th and I'm bloody shattered. I know it'll be days later or maybe even a week later when you're reading this. I haven't lost the plot surprisingly... yet lol. I've worked all over bank holiday weekend. I've not even done long shifts but I'm still worn out. After having a week off work because I'd booked it off and then having extra days off because of how the rota had fallen I ended up having almost two weeks off. So working four days in a row, over bank holiday has killed me off. I think the fact of it being an bank holiday just makes you feel less enthusiastic and tired anyway to be honest.

So I'd already made plans for today and that's to do pretty much nothing productive really. All I've planned on doing is just relaxing, catching up on tv and Reading and Leeds because I missed a lot of it and just being generally lazy because why not? I think I deserve it. So I didn't have to set an alarm for today so I ended up waking up around 11.30am (someone needed her sleep) and my lush delivery had arrived with my kitchen order by the time I'd woken up.

Finally after missing out on my all time favourite in the kitchen so many times, I've managed to get my hands on it again and a few other little treats too. If you're expecting there to be at least ten bath bombs and some other things in that box in the picture then I'm sorry to disappoint, there isn't I'm afraid lol.

If you're still with me after reading that last line then hii!
Here's what my mini lush haul consists of...

I've bought American Cream, Ickle Baby Bot, Twilight Shower Gel (Lush Kitchen) and I asked for some samples as well.

So after seeing the Lush Kitchen Menu the week before, I planned what few extra treats I was going to buy before doing the order on Monday morning when the Twilight Shower Gel was put online. I haven't ordered anything or been an Lush since June (it's been hard) I knew the next time I was going to buy some Lush goodies that I was going to buy American Cream. It was pretty much the priority thing to buy. Just because I haven't had a bottle for a while and then in my last order I got the American Cream sample and it reminded me how amazing it is. The smell lingers for hours and it literally smells good enough to eat. I'm not very good at describing smells but this is definitely fresh strawberries with vanilla but it's not in any way sickly. It's just fresh and lovely. If they did an shower gel with this scent then I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Price: £4.95 for 100g bottle.

Next up is the very cute little Ickle Baby Bot. I've already got one of these in my Lush stash but couldn't resist buying another one. I haven't used this before but sometimes you don't need the big colourful displays. Sometimes we just need something cute and relaxing. The smell of this is lavender and chamomile so it's definitely one that's going to help you relax. It smells similar to Twilight and Dream Cream. And I think it's the cheapest bath bomb available in Lush at the moment as it's only £1.95.

The final thing that I bought was my all time favourite. Twilight shower gel! This shower gel is just the best shower gel ever. It helps with my anxiety and it helps me to sleep a tad bit better. I've been rationing the bottle I managed to get at the end of last summer for months. I can't see why anyone wouldn't like this. Well unless they don't like the smell of Lavender obviously. Kind of wish I'd bought the shower jelly too because they look so pretty on the lush kitchen's instagram. But I'm not the biggest fan of the shower jellys. I find them quite hard to use. The shower gel was £11 which some people might think is expensive for a 250g bottle but it is filled to the brim, literally. So I've got one of the shower gels that I wanted from the kitchen, now I'm just waiting on Rose Jam shower gel to be on the kitchen menu or when it's released for the Christmas season because I have to be careful with my 100g bottle at the minute as it's so close to running out *cry emoji* lol.

So the final thing that arrived in the Lush delivery was these free samples. Normally I ask for certain things that I want to try when asking for samples but because I was in a mad rush to get the Twilight Shower Gel into my basket and paid for at 8am on an Monday morning, I just asked for any samples. In my sample bag I've got Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair shower gel, Five O Clock Whistle shaving cream and Ocean Salt Self-Preserving Scrub. I'm excited about giving them a try and might give Ocean Salt a second chance (works a treat but not keen on the smell) Might even do a little product review on these sometime in the near future?

There's my little lush haul. Hope you liked the post!

So we all have those days when we feel really crappy and down and sometimes we know whats the reason behind it so we can understand why we're feeling like we do and then sometimes it just comes along and it kind of knocks you off your feet for a day or two. Here's some things I do when I'm feeling like that.

Have a pamper

Getting out all my favourite bath goodies, lighting an uplifting scented candle and having a long soak in my bath until my fingers go all wrinkly. Sometimes I even have a glass of wine or a mug of hot chocolate with some fluffy marshmallows on top.

Watch either one of my fave comedies or something new
If I feel like curling up in my most comfiest clothes or pyjamas and watching a film then I do. It does help most of the time because it takes my mind off how I'm feeling for a few hours and maybe even makes me laugh, when I thought I'd lost any ability to laugh for the day.

Go for a walk or a drive
This depends if I'm feeling up to either I suppose. Definitely wouldn't recommend driving if you've been crying or you don't feel like you can focus because obviously it's unsafe and you're potentially putting your life and other peoples life at risk. But if you just feel like you need to get some air and get out of the house then yeah, definitely. Go for it.

Have a rant about what's making me unhappy

This entirely depends whether if I know why I'm feeling crappy or not. But getting things off my chest always helps a lot. I tend to talk to my mum or close friends if I need to have a good old rant. Sometimes I don't like burdening people about my problems or silly things that may seem so minor to other people. So instead I have a private tumblr account that I've had for a while and what I normally use for when I'm tracking my healthy eating and reblogging positive motivation pictures and etc. But I've started using it as my place to write up a stormy rant too here and there.

Listen to music
Music is just the best cure to get out of the rubbish moods. Listening to some of my favourite happy songs, new or old works a treat. Having a sing a long or a little dance about will instantly boost up your mood.

Cancel plans
If you have social plans or work and you're just not feeling up to it then don't do it. Simple as. Your health is more important. I always tell myself this now because I've had so many of them days when you just think I"ll be okay once I'm there but then Bam! the huge meltdown happens and I feel even more shit and also probably just embarrassed myself in front of everyone.

Treat myself to something new
Retail therapy is one of my favourite things to do when I'm having a crap day. Yes I technically can't afford to go on an online shopping spree whilst I'm curled up on the sofa re-watching gossip girl but sometimes I just feel I have to.

Eat whatever I fancy eating and having no regrets
if I fancy my favourite chocolate (Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations Rocky Mallow Road, def recommend) I just have some. Because starving myself from something that my body really feels like eating is just gonna make me more grumpy. All that "if you're craving for X (something unhealthy) it means you're probably lacking in Magnesium or Chromium (etc) so have an apple or some walnuts instead." That
goes out of the window. No thank you. Have that chocolate bar or that ice cream.

Put on my make up and/or wear one of my favourite outfits

Sometimes I don't even put on a lot of make up, just tinted moisturiser, a few coats of mascara and a lipstick or lip gloss but it works. Because if I know I look like crap, it'll make me feel like it too.

Think positively and take deep breaths
This sounds like such a stupid, cliche thing to say when you're feel like you're never going to feel happy again and can't think about anything but the negative 'what ifs" but it does work a lot of the time if you try. Also doing some really deep breaths if I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders works wonders.

So there's some of the things I do when I'm having one of those days. Hope this helps.

What do you do when you're having a bad day?
