How and Why I'm Making Some Changes To My Blog...

Okay, I'll admit, the title seems super dramatic, doesn't it? The changes I'm making aren't going to be massively drastic changes, I'm still focusing my blog mainly on beauty, lifestyle and fashion as well as throwing in some posts about mental health, my chronic pain/possible endometriosis journey too, just because I know I have some followers following me for those posts and want updates. But I've hit a bit of a brick wall with my blog. I don't know if it's because it's January and I'm feeling a bit meh and because I've had quite a lot of rubbish life things happening recently or if I'm just a bit bored of the content I'm producing. So here are a few things I'm planning on changing and why...

As much as I love a flatlay I'm just a bit bored of them and I think my instagram grid, in particular, looks really repetitive. You might have noticed that I haven't been posting as much on there and that's partly the reason why. So I'm planning on creating one or two different "backgrounds" for my photos as well as doing flatlays. The reason why I like doing flatlays is because I find it easier to take those type of photos with my chronic pain. I just whack my white foamboard on my bed and get all of the blog props and products and just take one after another. Even that makes my pain flare up a bit and I usually have to lie down for a few hours after taking the photos. It's mad, I know. But I'm hoping to start taking photos against the brick wall in my room and also using more homeware bits as blog props such as candles, mirrors, prints and more. But it just depends on how my pain is being and things like that.

I also really want to start writing more about lifestyle and fashion on my blog. I do already cover both but I feel like the beauty side takes over a lot of the time and sometimes I can go a whole month just talking about beauty related things on the blog and again, it seems a bit repetitive. So I want to try and make more of an effort in creating lifestyle and fashion content too. This isn't saying that I'm about to become one of those people who go and stand by a pretty wall and have their photo taken because that's just not for me, I don't have the confidence for that haha.

I've noticed recently that I'm being described as a "skincare blogger" by both other bloggers and brands and although that's nice that people are coming to my blog to read my skincare reviews and trust my opinions and etc, I don't want to just be known as Kirsty the skincare blogger. So not only am I going to start writing more lifestyle and fashion posts, I'm also going to start covering makeup and hair more and I'm planning on taking more photos of my makeup looks (on instagram) and just show what a product looks like on instead of my followers just reading my review if you get what I mean. That's the plan anyway. Again, it depends on how I'm feeling both mentally and physically too.

I would also love to work with more of a variety of brands too. I'm hoping once I've changed up my content a little, I'll start getting more opportunities from these type of brands ~fingers crossed~. I already have a few brands and companies in mind who I'm going to pitch to in the future after I've changed up my blog a bit! I still love working with beauty brands and I won't stop working with them but I just want something a bit different to come along here and there too, just to mix it up a bit.

So yeah, that's where I'm at with my blog right now. I'm literally writing this on the day this post is going to go live which is rare. I guess you could say it's a bit of a "brain dump" kind of post haha.

If there's any particular type of posts you'd like to see on my blog then let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do!

  1. Looking forward to seeing the changes! I felt stuck in a box when I just did beauty, and it's such a good feeling to be able to post whatever you want to. Wishing you all of the best xx
