Does the PMD Personal Microderm Really Work?

-If a product is marked with an * it was PR/gifted to me. This post contains no sponsored content-
I'm personally a big fan of skincare tools, I know they're not for everybody but I do think the majority of them do what they say they claim they'll do. So in today's post, I'm going to be talking about the PMD Personal Microderm* as well as PMD's recently launched Recovery Anti-Ageing Collagen Sheet Masks* which have been specially formulated to use after the Personal Microderm or after using the PMD Clean/Clean Pro.
The PMD Personal Microderm Classic is priced at £145* and they claim it delivers the same results as what you would expect from a Microdermabrasion treatment in a medical salon/spa. The device helps you to achieve glowy, youthful skin by using a calibrated vacuum suction which exfoliates your skin and removes dead skin cells which can also help to reduce acne scars and large pores. The suction of the device also helps to increase circulation and blood flow which stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin which can help to leave your skin looking firmer. The removal of dead skin cells can also help your skincare products to get deeper into your skin which means you will get better results from any skincare products you already own too.

It comes with easy to follow instructions, a plug (which has fittings for other countries) as well as the patented spinning discs with aluminium oxide crystals. You get 1x White disc which is the training disc, 2x Green, 2x Grey and 2x Blue. You also get two cap fittings for the device - one is for facial Microderm and the other is for body Microderm (which I'm yet to try) and the reusable filter.

The device is really easy to use, it doesn't hurt, it just feels a bit weird but now I've used it three times, I'm used to it. I did break out a little in my usual breakout-prone areas after the first use but I think it's because the device had obviously done its job and removed any dead skin cells and brought any "rubbish" under my skin to the surface. I do find that my skin is a little red after using the device for about 20 minutes or so but it's nothing major, I just make sure to use something soothing afterwards. Even after just three "sessions", I feel like my skin doesn't look as clogged in the usual areas (mostly my T-Zone) and it looks a little more even and radiant too. I'm definitely going to keep using it every week or two and see if the results continue.

The price tag may seem pricey but I know at my local salons just one microdermabrasion session can cost anywhere between £45-£70 which makes the PMD Personal Microderm sound a lot cheaper. So I feel like if you are looking into trying a skincare device that helps anything from fine lines, wrinkles, blocked pores, acne scarring, dark spots and an uneven skin tone and if you can afford it then give it a try. (You can also pay in instalments with Clearpay on PMD's website).

PMD's have also released their Recovery Anti-Ageing Collagen Infused Sheet Masks* which are £37 for a box of 5 masks. The masks have been designed to be used after the Personal Microderm or the PMD Clean Pro. The collagen-infused sheet masks which have been formulated to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and dark spots whilst giving your skin a soothing boost of hydration. The hyaluronic acid helps to lock in moisture and the all-natural olive oil is jam-packed with antioxidants which prevent premature ageing. The masks also contain Acetyl tetrapeptide which is an active ingredient that helps to decrease the release of inflammation triggers and calms sensitive skin.

You only have to leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes and then you can either massage the remaining essence into your skin, neck and decollete or if you own a PMD Clean Pro* you can massage it in using the heated side of the device for more of a spa-like experience. I do like the sheet masks and I think they leave your skin feels really hydrated after use but I wouldn't say they're essential. However, if you want to full-on facial experience recommended by PMD then maybe you would really enjoy them.
