A Review Of Pure Anada's Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

-If a product is marked with an * then it was PR/Gifted to me. This post contains no sponsored content-
I've been trying to switch to using a shampoo bar for a while now but there's always been something wrong with the shampoo bars I've tried so far. From an allergic reaction to my hair gets greasy too quickly after washing it, the smell etc. So when an email landed in my inbox about Pure Anada's Shampoo and Conditioner bars which are available from Live in the Light, I just had to give them a try. There are different bars for different hair types along with different scents. I chose the Balancing Shampoo Bar RRP £9.95* and the Balancing Conditioner Bar RRP £9.95* which are both Patchouli & Lemongrass scented.

First of all, I love the Patchouli & Lemongrass scent. It's super herby and kind of relaxing too if that makes sense. Obviously, I tried the shampoo bar first and I found that it lathers up well, I use it like a normal bar of soap and lather it up in my hands and then apply to my hair because I feel like it works better than way. Although I do like the eco-friendly packaging, the blue paper from the shampoo bar did stick to the bar when I removed it so it's something to bear in mind before using, especially if you have a lighter hair or else you might end up with tinted hair haha. It does rinse off easily under running water though.

After using the shampoo bar, I obviously move onto the conditioner bar, which is something I'd never tried before just because my hair needs a lot of TLC and I just felt like a conditioner bar probably wouldn't work the same as a normal conditioner. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is a bit more awkward to apply though especially if you have long hair. I felt like it works better when I apply it directly to my hair (avoiding the roots).

Unfortunately, after using both of these together, I've come to realise that the shampoo bar seems to lift my hair dye from my roots. However, this is something I've found with most of the shampoo bars I've tried and I don't think it's actually the product's fault, I think it's my hair. I use box hair dyes just because I don't trust hairdressers to dye my hair after a few mishaps in the past and I do find some products do lift dye from my roots in particular. So it's something I'm going to use when my hair is in need of dyeing but not when it's freshly dyed. However I do like the results from the conditioner bar, my hair is manageable, it doesn't weigh my hair down and the lovely scent lasts for a good amount of time.

Have you tried a shampoo bar and/or conditioner bar before?

  1. I love shampoo bars and have been using Soak & Float from Lush for years. It's a shame they don't work as well for your hair! x
