A Mini Revolution Haul

Last month I kind of accidentally ended up ordering a couple of Revolution products whilst looking for specific products on ASOS and I also picked up the new lip kits from the latest Revolution X Soph collection because I really liked the look of them. So I thought I’d do a little round-up review blog post of the Revolution products I’ve been trying out and using recently and let you know how I’ve been getting on with them.

First up is the Gentle Milk Jelly Cleanser RRP £8 which is something I’m actually already familiar with because I’ve used it for well over a year now. It’s a nice gentle daily cleanser that you can’t really go wrong with. It’s quite similar to the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser but at almost half the price. It smells quite floral (like MJC does) so if you’re not a fan of floral scents then it’s not going to be one for you. A little goes a long way with this product and it just leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed like a cleanser should.

Next up is the Pink Clay Detoxifying Mask RRP £8 which I initially thought was trying to be kind of a dupe to the Sand & Sky Australian Face Mask which I do like but it’s expensive, however, the ingredients aren’t the same. After using it a few times I’ve come to the conclusion that the Pink Clay Detoxifying Mask from Revolution is a nice face mask, particularly if you have quite oily, spot-prone skin. It leaves your skin feeling really clean and soft and I feel like it helps to absorb excess oil like it claims. So I would buy it again. However, if you do happen to be looking for a dupe of the Sand & Sky Australian Face Mask then I would say try the Australian Pink Clay Mask from T-Zone but it’s extremely similar. You can get it from Superdrug.

I also picked up the 2% Salicylic Acid Face Mask to use on my T-Zone but I’ll honest I’m not a big fan of the smell because to me it kind of smells plastic-y which is odd. Also, it’s quite messy and hard to remove and because of that, I managed to stain one of my favourite T-shirt’s when I used it it for the first time which was pretty annoying. It does help with reducing spots but there are other masks from Revolution that do that which aren’t as messy and around the same price. I’m just using it as an ‘on the spot’ kind of mask now and I won’t be buying it again.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I picked up the new lip kits from the latest Revolution X Soph range because I haven’t really seen anything similar on the market and I do really like a tinted lip balm because if I do wear makeup, then I only really wear minimal makeup these days and tinted lip balms are perfect for minimal makeup looks. Each kit contains a tinted lip balm and a lip liner. There’s Candy Icing which is the lightest shade of the two and is kind of a peachy nude-pink with the matching lip liner and Toffee Drizzle which is a toffee red-toned brown which the matching lip liner which are priced at £8 each. I really like both of these, I automatically thought I'd like Candy Icing more because I'm a sucker for a nude-pink shade but they're both really lovely, they're comfortable and have a nice amount of glossiness about them. Candy Icing is almost kind of a "my lips but better" shade on my lips and makes them look fuller even without the lip liner and Toffee Drizzle looks kind of like a really muted red-brown shade on my lips when I wear it without the lip liner. If you want to make it look a little bolder then you can obviously wear them with the designated liner underneath as well.

Lastly is the 4% Lactic Acid AHA Smoothing Moisture Balm RRP £8 which I picked up because I always become quite self-conscious of my Keratosis Pilaris when summer rolls around and my arms are out a little more. I usually use the Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion but I really don't like the smell of it and apparently, even the latest scent ranges still have the lingering original scent once it's settled into your skin from what I've read, so I don't want to risk it. The Ameliorate one really does work well for KP but I just wanted to try something different this summer. The 4% Lactic Acid AHA Moisture Balm from Revolution definitely smells nicer, it's fresher, it does smell a little bit air-freshener-y but I definitely prefer it over the Ameliorate scent. But I'll be honest, I haven't been keeping on top of using this as much as I was planning on doing but I do think it's helped a bit already and my arms feel really smooth. It does take a short time to sink in but I found that with the Ameliorate one as well. So if you're looking for something a little cheaper or if you're like me and don't like the smell of the Ameliorate Body Lotion then I would say maybe try this one considering it's only £8.

So overall, I'm pleased with all of the products bar the Salicylic Acid Face Mask and would repurchase them all again. Have you picked anything new up from Revolution lately? If so, what and what were your thoughts?

  1. Great haul! I loved the sound of the gentle milk jelly cleanser, but I'm not keen on floral scents, so I'm not sure how I'd get on with that one. The lip duos sound lovely, and I love a wash of colour these days xx
