In today’s post, I’m sharing some of my favourite tried and tested products that I think really help to clear up your skin. I’ve made sure to include a variety of products and all but one are drugstore-priced too.

I recently did a review of the Nivea Derma Skin Clear range and since then the Nivea Derma Clear Gel Cleanser* has been my go-to cleanser which is great as it’s not only an affordable cleanser but it also contains Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide which are two of my favourite skincare ingredients as they help keep your skin look clearer by treating blemishes, evening out your skin tone and reducing pigmentation and also help to reduce sebum production. I still get the odd breakout here and there but I’ve definitely seen an improvement in my skin since using the Derma Skin Clear range and my most used product of the range is the cleanser with the Derma Skin Clear Toner* being a close second.

The COSRX Master Patch Original Fit Blemish Stickers are super handy to pop on when you have a fresh spot that you want to get rid of ASAP. Each pack contains 24 patches which come in three different sizes, so you can pick and choose which sized patch is suitable for your spot. These work best on whitehead spots or when you can tell a spot is forming into a whitehead. I tend to use them overnight but you can use them during the day and just put makeup on over the top to make the patch more undetectable. The hydrocolloid patches work by protecting the concerned area to stop further bacteria and dirt from getting at the spot whilst drawing out the rubbish inside the spot. They also don’t dry out or irritate your skin like some spot-reducing products can. So if you’re someone with particularly sensitive skin, these might be a good option!

The Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Peel RRP £29* is a treatment that you apply 1-2 times per week in the evening after cleansing. The peel exfoliates deep under the skin and removes dead skin cells and excess oil. It contains an array of active ingredients including Lactic, Mandelic, and Azelaic Acids which even and brighten your skin tone as well as Salicylic Acid which fights blackheads and breakouts. I find that this works really well on both regular breakouts and blackheads, I’m quite prone to blackheads on my t-zone area and I can definitely see a difference in my skin when I keep on top of using this. A slight tingling feeling when using the peel is normal as it contains active ingredients. You just leave it on for 7-10 minutes and rinse away with cool water and then apply moisturiser. I like to use the Dermalogica Clear Start Hydrating Lotion*  after using the peel as I feel like they work nicely together and their Hydrating Lotion is really soothing.

Lastly is the Witch S.O.S Blemish Stick RRP £2.69 which as you may have guessed, contains witch hazel which helps to fight the bacteria that causes spots. This is a handy on-the-go spot treatment that you can pop in your bag if needed. It’s best used on new spots, however, don’t put it on a spot where the skin has broken as it will sting a lot. I also find the blemish stick to be handy for those horrible under-the-skin spots that feel like they have their own heartbeat as it seems to help bring them to the surface quicker.
