10 Things I Do When I'm Feeling Low

So we all have those days when we feel really crappy and down and sometimes we know whats the reason behind it so we can understand why we're feeling like we do and then sometimes it just comes along and it kind of knocks you off your feet for a day or two. Here's some things I do when I'm feeling like that.

Have a pamper

Getting out all my favourite bath goodies, lighting an uplifting scented candle and having a long soak in my bath until my fingers go all wrinkly. Sometimes I even have a glass of wine or a mug of hot chocolate with some fluffy marshmallows on top.

Watch either one of my fave comedies or something new
If I feel like curling up in my most comfiest clothes or pyjamas and watching a film then I do. It does help most of the time because it takes my mind off how I'm feeling for a few hours and maybe even makes me laugh, when I thought I'd lost any ability to laugh for the day.

Go for a walk or a drive
This depends if I'm feeling up to either I suppose. Definitely wouldn't recommend driving if you've been crying or you don't feel like you can focus because obviously it's unsafe and you're potentially putting your life and other peoples life at risk. But if you just feel like you need to get some air and get out of the house then yeah, definitely. Go for it.

Have a rant about what's making me unhappy

This entirely depends whether if I know why I'm feeling crappy or not. But getting things off my chest always helps a lot. I tend to talk to my mum or close friends if I need to have a good old rant. Sometimes I don't like burdening people about my problems or silly things that may seem so minor to other people. So instead I have a private tumblr account that I've had for a while and what I normally use for when I'm tracking my healthy eating and reblogging positive motivation pictures and etc. But I've started using it as my place to write up a stormy rant too here and there.

Listen to music
Music is just the best cure to get out of the rubbish moods. Listening to some of my favourite happy songs, new or old works a treat. Having a sing a long or a little dance about will instantly boost up your mood.

Cancel plans
If you have social plans or work and you're just not feeling up to it then don't do it. Simple as. Your health is more important. I always tell myself this now because I've had so many of them days when you just think I"ll be okay once I'm there but then Bam! the huge meltdown happens and I feel even more shit and also probably just embarrassed myself in front of everyone.

Treat myself to something new
Retail therapy is one of my favourite things to do when I'm having a crap day. Yes I technically can't afford to go on an online shopping spree whilst I'm curled up on the sofa re-watching gossip girl but sometimes I just feel I have to.

Eat whatever I fancy eating and having no regrets
if I fancy my favourite chocolate (Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations Rocky Mallow Road, def recommend) I just have some. Because starving myself from something that my body really feels like eating is just gonna make me more grumpy. All that "if you're craving for X (something unhealthy) it means you're probably lacking in Magnesium or Chromium (etc) so have an apple or some walnuts instead." That
goes out of the window. No thank you. Have that chocolate bar or that ice cream.

Put on my make up and/or wear one of my favourite outfits

Sometimes I don't even put on a lot of make up, just tinted moisturiser, a few coats of mascara and a lipstick or lip gloss but it works. Because if I know I look like crap, it'll make me feel like it too.

Think positively and take deep breaths
This sounds like such a stupid, cliche thing to say when you're feel like you're never going to feel happy again and can't think about anything but the negative 'what ifs" but it does work a lot of the time if you try. Also doing some really deep breaths if I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders works wonders.

So there's some of the things I do when I'm having one of those days. Hope this helps.
