A Scientific Product Launch I Actually Understand... | Sönd Skincare

I always find that a lot of brands talk and promote the science side of their latest products but they make it sound so complicated and complex that my brain just can't keep up. So it's refreshing to come across a brand who keep it simple and easy to understand.

I've been using some of the Sönd Skincare range over the past three weeks and today I'm going to be giving you my honest opinions (as always) about what I think about the range. I'd actually never heard of the brand before until I received an email from them and what they offer. Because I've become a bit of a skincare hoarder this year and I have been trying to find some skincare staples, I was really intrigued by Sönd Skincare because they are for people with sensitive skin and my skin is quite sensitive (especially in the winter) as well as oily. I've also see on their website that the product range has had great reviews from people who suffer from Cystic Acne and also general usual breakouts like myself.

Sönd believes that your skin and cells are healthiest when in an alkaline state. So their products work to keep skin cells working in their natural pH range. Most skincare products have a lower pH of around 5.5 and the Alkaline range from Sönd Skincare has a pH level of 7.3 with is a little higher than water meaning that there is more oxygen in the liquid which allows skin cells to absorb more water. Also, cells with a higher pH level have a higher negative charge which helps to improve the blood flow meaning it will help to give your skin a lovely glow.

First up is the Clean Slate Cream Cleanser RRP £22* which I've really been enjoying using as a night time cleanser. I tend to prefer using gel washes first thing in the morning as I find them more refreshing and wake up my skin but I think cream washes are a great way to add in a little extra nourishment whilst cleansing your skin at night. This also has a really nice scent and it's very calming so it's great to use before bed too.

After using the cleanser I've been using the Strength Training Serum RRP £42* and I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of serums/oils usually because I worry they'll make my skin more oily and more prone to breaking out which is not what I need. So I'm really surprised to say that the Strength Training Serum is definitely my favourite product out of the four I've been trying out. I don't know how it does it, but my skin just looks plumper and clearer and feels so much better the following morning and it also doesn't break me out which is great! It isn't too heavy on my skin either and it smells lovely and fresh.

I've been using the Sidekick Day Cream RRP £34* most days either just on its own or as a base for my makeup. It works nice for my skin and it definitely helps the longevity of my makeup. It's got a nice, fresh scent like the serum which seems to wake up my skin first thing in the morning and I find I don't have to use a lot of the product each use either.

Lastly is the Midnight Feast Night Cream RRP £38* which I have used a few times but I've found it to be just a tad too thick and creamy for my oily skin as I do prefer a more lightweight moisturiser both in the morning and evening. I think if you have super dry and/or sensitive skin then this would work a treat for your skin. But I have gave the Midnight Feast Night Cream to my Mum who does have sensitive and slightly dry skin and she does seem to be liking it.

I've got to say I'm totally buying into the whole alkaline skincare as my skin does feel and look better and the products have definitely helped my skin to glow as Sönd promised. I think my favourites are probably the Strength Training Serum and Clean Slate Cream Cleanser and they are the ones that I would pick up again in the future.
