4 Simple Ways To Stay Motivated When Working From Home

Since working from home I've realised that it's so easy to lose motivation and it's also very easy to fall into the trap of just giving yourself the afternoon off to binge-watch whatever the latest hyped up show is on Netflix when you know really you should be working. But I have figured out some ways which I find really help me to get back on track and basically give me a kick up the bum to get things done. So that's what I'm sharing in today's post.

Get Dressed
I'm not going to lie, one of the great things about working from home is the fact that I can have a pyjama/lounge wear day whenever I feel like it but when I'm struggling with motivation I find that putting a little bit of makeup on and getting dressed - even if it's just a comfy tee and leggings actually works wonders. Another little tip is to put your shoes on. Yes it sounds silly but it's something which I remember Becca Rose mention in a video a while ago and it actually works.

Award Yourself
Yep, I sound like a 5 year old but it seems to work for me. I'll tell myself "Right, get these 2 blog posts done, reply to my emails, send invoices and tidy and then I'll treat myself to a bath bomb bath afterwards and a work-free evening". I know it sounds daft but actually works - for me anyway.

Have a Work Area
I've recently bought a little desk and proper office chair for my room which literally just fits in. But I needed a proper area to sit and do work instead of my soft office (AKA bed) because of my current back problems which are still causing me havoc. But I've also noticed that it's really helped with motivation too and it also is a great place to take my photos because it's on wheels. So it's kind of a win, win.

Have a Plan/To-Do List
I love planning and organising everything and it's so satisfying ticking off things on a to-do list that I even write down the smallest of things to get done. I find if I've hit a bit of a wall motivation-wise then planning out things that are urgent and need to get done asap and then separating the less important things really helps me to keep track on everything and stop stressing over the little things.

  1. Some amazing ideas thank you. I work from home and it's so hard to not just binge on Netflix.
