My Go-To Autumn Makeup Picks

I'll be honest, like most people, I've not really been wearing makeup much this year because what's the point when we're all stuck indoors? However, I thought I'd do a round-up of my go-to Autumn makeup picks, some of which are old favourites that I always use or return to during the colder months and some are fairly new in my makeup stash. My skin gets quite weird around this time of the time as it becomes drier on my nose and chin but it's also still oily too so I do feel like I have to really think about what I'm putting on my skin both in my skincare routine and makeup and also because of COVID I've also got to think about how certain beauty products last underneath a mask as well. So here my go-to Autumn makeup picks that are also face mask-friendly too.
I'm going to obviously start with my favourite base products and my all-time favourite base product is definitely the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream*, although I do feel like it gives you a lot more coverage than an ordinary CC Cream, it also lets your skin peek through too and it doesn't feel super heavy on your skin. I also like that it's SPF 50 and I find that I don't need lots of product peruse. If I want more of a minimal base then I'll opt for either bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream which is really hydrating, evens out your complexion and doesn't cling to any dry patches and/or the bareMinerals Original Foundation Powder which I sometimes use very lightly over the top of the Complexion Rescue just for a tiny bit more coverage. It kind of depends on how my skin is behaving.

For concealer, I've been using either Barry M's All Night Long Concealer in the shade Milk which I tend to use on spots mainly because it has really good coverage for a drugstore concealer and then I use the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer* which is great if you're someone who has discolouration under their eyes from tiredness because it really lifts and brightens up the area. I don't use the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer on areas which are covered by my mask because it does "slip" on me personally which is probably a mixture of my already oily skin and the mask rubbing against the concealed areas. But it is really good for the under-eye area as the name suggests and it doesn't sit in any creases either.

For brows I've either been just leaving them because I have started tinting them again or I just pop on some Glossier Boy Brow in Brown or I use the It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Pencil, it kind of depends on if they're freshly tinted or if they're due a tint really.

For mascara, I've been mostly using the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 which I don't think is actually that "legendary" if I'm being totally honest. It's okay but I'm just trying to use it up. It's quite clumpy and I find myself going in with my Glossier Lash Slick to separate the lashes because the brush on the Glossier mascara is quite spiky. I still really like the Lash Paradise mascara from L'Oreal which I will be returning to after I've finished using the CT mascara. I am quite intrigued to try the latest mascara launch from Charlotte Tilbury though.

I don't really wear eyeshadow because 1) I'm not very good at applying it and I can easily make myself look like my eyes are diseased or something lol and 2) I can't really be bothered with it if I'm being totally honest. However, I have recently pulled out the Avon mark. Eyebrow Cream in the shade Savage Brown which I'll be honest, I don't even know if it's available anymore but I thought it looked quite nice and easy to use and the shade really makes my blue eyes "pop".

I've also been loving the Dirty Little Secret Jelly Blush* in the shade Exposed which I received in a Roccabox or if I prefer a powder blush then I've been opting for my good old faithful Benefit Dandelion which works really well with my pale complexion. For highlighter I really like Essence's The Highlighter in shade 10 Heroic* because it's more of a natural dewy highlighter and not over the top or I'll use Glossier Play Niteshine in the shade Pale Pearl which again, isn't super over the top, however, it is buildable if you're into more of a full-on highlighter look.

Obviously, because of the whole mask situation, lipsticks are tricky right now and I've found myself just using a lip balm or a tinted lip balm usually from Burt's Bees. However, if I was going somewhere where I want to be wearing a proper lipstick then I'd definitely opt for either my Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk or the MAYY lipstick in the shade Tulip* which is kind of little a browner version of Pillow Talk.
