Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017

Happy New Year!

It's the first day of 2017 and I thought I'd share my main goals that I want to achieve this year. 2016 had a few ups but a heck of a lot of downs. It was just a complete crap year for me basically and I'm glad it's over. As cliche as it sounds, I'm ready for a fresh start and a clean slate to make new memories and achieve new goals.

Settle into a new job
I quit my job of almost 3 years a few months ago. To cut a long story short, it just wasn't for me anymore. It was getting me down and it was time to leave. So I saved up some money and left. I'm still looking for a new job, I don't want to just take anything that's on offer because I don't want my next job just to be a pit stop and still be looking for another job whilst I'm there. I want to get a job and hopefully love it. It's just waiting for that right one. But I know leaving my old job was one of the better choices I made in 2016 and I definitely don't regret it.

Lose weight
Let's get this good old cliched one out of the way... Last year I lost a stone, I know it's not the most amazing weight loss amount but it made me feel tons better. But because of the above and other things in life getting in the way, I ended up putting some of the lost weight back on. Mainly because of comfort eating and snacking on not so healthy foods. But I will lose some weight in 2017. I know I'll never be a Skinny Minnie but losing weight, no matter how much I lose, always makes me feel better about myself and feel more confident.

Travel and explore more
This doesn't necessarily mean jumping on the next plane to New York and getting the hell outta here (even though that would be pretty amazing) But just exploring new towns and cities in the UK would be enough for me
. I love places with quirky, little gift shops and photogenic houses and so on. I always seem to go to the same old places and I'm ready for something new.

Turn negatives into positives
I've been doing this a lot over the past few months and it has helped my anxiety a lot.

It really does help your mindset and it's something I'm going to continue doing in 2017.

Declutter my life
I mean this in a few ways. I want to declutter my wardrobe, my overflowing drawers under my bed and just get rid of
general things I don't really need. I also mean some people who are in my life too.

Grow my blog more
I started my blog in Summer 2016 and I've only just made a twitter and joined the blogging community on there. I was so nervous about going public on twitter with my blog. I wasn't confident enough to go public with my blog on my personal twitter, so I made a twitter account just for my blog and to connect with fellow bloggers. But I'm happy with my choice and now my blog traffic has pretty much tripled and I feel a part of the blogging
community already. I've had my twitter account for just over 2 weeks and I've already got my first collaboration with a brand which is exciting. I can't wait to see what 2017 has for my little blog.

What goals have you set yourself for 2017?

  1. The turning negatives into positives is something I plan to work on this year also. When you are stuck in that mindset, which I'm sure you understand from writing this. It's so difficult to break free of that.

I wish you all the luck and happiness in the new year (:

  3. Completely agree with the travelling! I'm not a massive globetrotter but I always want to discover places in the UK that I can escape to for a little while. I hope your 2017 is wonderful xxx
