What I've Been Reading, Watching and Listening To Lately

It's time for another blog post where I talk about what's been keeping me entertained over the past couple of months. I've definitely been watching more TV shows over movies considering I've got Amazon Prime, Now TV/Sky Movies and Netflix. I've also basically been listening to one album on repeat since it was released.

As I said in a recent Instagram post, I'm really struggling to sit down and read at the moment. However, I am making my way (slowly) through three books right now. These are The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary, Regretting You by Colleen Hoover and The Skincare Bible Dr Anjali Mahto. I'm enjoying all three of them but it's just getting in the "reading zone" that I'm struggling with. I definitely bought The Flatshare because I saw so many other people talking about it on Twitter and Instagram! Regretting You is good but it's definitely not as good as some of Colleen Hoover's other books such as Hopeless and Confess but I feel like I need to read more of it to give it a proper review.

As for what I've been watching recently, I watched Season 3 of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina at the beginning of the year and I've got to say I was a bit disappointed with it especially after loving the first two seasons. It just didn't hook me in as much as the previous seasons and I didn't really like the storyline and new characters either. I binge-watched the first two seasons when they were released but I almost felt like I was forcing myself to watch season 3 just to see what happens at the end and if it picked up instead of actually enjoying it.

I finally got around to watching Crazy Rich Asians which is about a woman named Rachel who has been dating her boyfriend Nick for a while and it has come to the point of their relationship where she wants to meet his family in Singapore. However, she has quite a shock when she finds out that Nick has been hiding a pretty big secret and that his family are one of the richest families in the country. I absolutely loved it and totally get the hype. It made me cry a couple days in certain parts and I just thought it was a great all-round rom-com. I'd definitely rewatch it and recommend watching it if you haven't already.

I was so excited to watch To All The Boys I've Loved Before 2: P.S. I Still Love You after the first movie (which I've watched multiple times just for the record). But I just felt like it wasn't as good and was really lacking in the comedy department. The first movie definitely had more going on and was funnier and cuter. I think because it isn't your typical kind of boy-meets-girl kind of rom-com made it a bit unique as well.

I really enjoyed Noughts + Crosses (available on iPlayer), I never read the books but I do tend to like dystopian kind of films/tv shows so I was intrigued after seeing the advert for it. Set in an alternate history it follows childhood friends Sephy the daughter of a high-ranking Cross politician and Callum who live on opposite ends of the divide. Sephy is from the black ruling class Aprica and Callum is from the white underclass Albion. After reconnecting at a party they realise that there's a spark that they want to explore but they know if their relationship is discovered they'll both face severe consequences.

Killing Eve Season 3 is currently airing and I'm really enjoying it. However, I wasn't happy about a certain death at the beginning of the season. But it's still got me hooked and I just want to binge-watch them all in one go, which unfortunately we can't this time around because they're airing the episodes weekly instead of making them all available. I'm still loving the storyline and the twists and turns that come with it.

The last TV show I'm going to mention is Race Across The World which I bloody love. I loved the first series when it aired last year and I actually think I liked it series 2 that recently ended even more. It's a competition where teams of two (there's couples, brothers and sisters, friends etc) each get given the price of a one-way airfare ticket to a certain place and they have to make their way there without using a plane. It's really good and I highly recommend watching it!

Lastly, for the what I've been listening to lately segment, I'm just going to mention one album because it's pretty much all I've been listening to lately (as well as my daily playlists on Spotify here and there). The album is Blossoms - Foolish Loving Spaces and I'm actually obsessed with it. I loved their first album (it's one of my all-time faves), the second album was okay and the third album has been great to listen to, especially given what's going on right now because they're all pretty cheerful and sing-alongy. I think my top three songs from the album are My Swimming Brain, Like Gravity and Sunday Was A Friend Of Mine.
