Showing posts with label tv

In today's post, I wanted to share what I've been watching recently. This time, I have just 5 TV shows that I want to talk about, including one popular TV show that I felt a little let down about after really enjoying the previous seasons.

In today's post, I wanted to share some TV shows to watch during ‘Spooky Season’. So I’ve put together an array of different binge-worthy TV shows which will cater for anyone looking for a show to watch this October which has either a creepy or dark kind of vibe.

As we approach the end of summer and in my case, crave the autumn, I thought I would share 5 TV shows that are coming soon that I’m looking forward to watching. I love autumn/winter evenings when you can get all cosy and comfortable and watch tv/movies. It also tends to be a good time of year for new TV shows and seasons to release.

I'm back with another What I've Been Watching Recently... post and once again I haven't watched any new films, I really need to sit down and watch some of the new films on my Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ watchlists, don't I? I've watched quite a few films I've seen many times before such as Harry Potter, some rom-coms and things like that, I tend to pop films like that on as background noise when I'm cleaning or tidying or even when I'm just scrolling on my phone or writing and replying to emails etc. So I've watched 4 TV shows that I want to talk about since my last What I've Been Watching Recently... post and here are my overall thoughts.

I'm back with another ‘What I’ve Been Watching Recently’ post this week! I checked when my last one of these posts was and it’s already been 3 months, it feels like it was only a month or so ago. This year is flying by! Anyway, here’s what I’ve been watching recently…

In today’s post, I thought I would talk about some TV shows that are hitting our screens this year that I recommend checking out. Some of the shows are shows that have already been on TV and are coming back with a new season and some are brand new TV shows which I think look good and I am planning on watching when they come out.

I'm back again, talking about what has been keeping me entertained over the past couple of months when it comes to TV shows, films and music. My last What I've Been Reading, Watching and Listening To Lately post was way back in April so I thought that now we’re approaching Autumn, it’s the perfect time to recommend some TV shows and films as there’s nothing better than a cosy night in when the weather gets cooler, right?

I realised that I haven’t done a ‘What I’ve Been Watching and Listening To’ post since January. January! Where has that time gone? I’ve definitely watched a lot of things since then, particularly TV shows and I also have a few songs and albums that I’ve been loving that I want to talk about in this post too. So let’s get cracking...

Happy New Year! I’m not going to lie I was actually planning on writing and posting a few more blog posts before the end of 2020 but unfortunately, I was unwell over Christmas (not the C-word, don’t worry!). So I’m a little bit behind on my planned blog posts and insta posts but I’m sure I’ll catch up fairly quickly.

I thought it was time I'd do another What I've Been Reading, Watching and Listening To Lately post as I've realised that the last one was way back in May! I've definitely been more into watching TV shows over anything else over the past few months which is why there's a few on my list this time around.

It's time for another blog post where I talk about what's been keeping me entertained over the past couple of months. I've definitely been watching more TV shows over movies considering I've got Amazon Prime, Now TV/Sky Movies and Netflix. I've also basically been listening to one album on repeat since it was released.

5 TV Shows To Binge Watch This Weekend

in , , by Kirsty Milward, 2.8.19

I haven't really talked about TV shows I've been watching and things like that for a while so I thought I'd do a round up post of some shows that I think are worth watching but also don't have literally hundreds of episodes. So you can easily binge watch the shows I'm talking about in this post over a nice relaxing weekend.

Clique
Where to find it? BBC iPlayer
Similar to: Killing Eve, Skins, Doctor Foster

I honestly don't know why more people don't talk about Clique because it's such a good show and it's easily accessible via iPlayer. There's currently two seasons available (I'm not sure if there's going to be a season three) and it's what I would call a mystery-thriller. It follows Holly who has just started her new life as a uni student in Edinburgh with her best friend Georgia but then Georgia gets drawn into an elite crowd who Holly is not sure about. With Georgia trying to get in with the "it crowd" she starts changing and starts pushing her childhood friend Holly out which then worries Holly because Georgia's personality completely changes. This leads Holly to begin investigating the elite crowd and what exactly they are about.

Sex Education
Where to find it? Netflix
Similar to: Skins, Bad Education

Sex Education is definitely one of the best shows I've watched this year. It's so funny and it covers a lot of important topics too. It did take me an episode or two to get into it with it's weird 70's set up but you soon get past it. It is definitely based on this day and age as they have smartphones but the houses, cars and the clothes seem to be inspired by the 70's.

It follows Otis who is completely inexperienced when it comes to sex and is also extremely socially awkward. However his divorced mum is a sex therapist and works from home, so Otis unintentionally knows things and has picked up on his mother's tips. So when Mauve the school's "bad girl" realises that Otis is good at giving out advice after helping out a fellow classmate she ropes him into starting a therapy clinic at school to make some quick money. It's funny but it can be quite sad and upsetting in some episodes too.

The Spanish Princess
Where to find it? Amazon Video
Similar to: Reign, The Tudors

The Spanish Princes is loosely based on Catherine of Aragon who was obviously Henry VIII's first wife. I thought it sounded pretty interesting because you never really hear or see much about her apart from the fact that she was his first wife, she had a daughter with him but didn't give him an heir and she was very lucky he didn't behead her. If you're a fan of Reign and/or The Tudors then I'd say you'll most likely like The Spanish Princess. It's only 8 episodes long so it's an easy one to binge watch over the weekend. It is dramatised for the sake of the TV show but it is still interesting as there's a lot of twists and turns throughout. They've also renewed it for season 2 which is set to be released next year which I'm already looking forward to watching.

Ackley Bridge
Where to find it? All 4
Similar to: Waterloo Road

If you liked Waterloo Road back in the day (wow, I'm sounding old...) then I'm pretty certain you'll love Ackley Bridge because they're extremely similar and I'll even go as far as to say that I think I actually prefer Ackley Bridge. It's based in Yorkshire in a fictional town and it's about segregating two schools into one due to budget cuts in education, with one school being mostly Asian and the other school being British. This obviously comes with a lot of drama but the teachers and sponsors are determined to make it work and prove everyone who doubts them wrong. It covers so many important and sensitive topics from poverty, sexuality, religion, bullying and more and they always seem to cover the topics well too. It can be funny, upsetting and shocking and the latest season which is season 3 has definitely been the most shocking of all so far.

Good Girls
Where to find it? Netflix
Similar to: Big Little Lies, Killing Eve (kind of)

Good Girls is what I would call a crime-drama-comedy rolled into one. It follows three suburban mother's - Beth, Annie and Ruby who all live in Michigan. Beth and Annie are sisters and Ruby is a close friend. They've all got things going on in their life where they all need a substantial amount of money to cover said things but they're just scraping by trying to make ends meet. So they come up with a plan to rob the local supermarket where Annie works (as you do haha!). But all is not what it seems and it turns out that they've accidentally landed themselves into something big and bad. It's such a good show and I don't want to talk about it in depth because I could easily ruin the plot but I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already.

I love nothing more than getting all snug in my bed and catching up or binge watching TV shows with some snacks after having a self-care pamper evening. I've watched so many good TV shows over the past year and there's so many I'm really looking forward to watching in the new year. So I thought I'd talk about which shows I'm most looking forward to watching in 2019.

It's been a couple months since I wrote my last What I've Been Reading, Watching and Listening To Lately post. It's safe to say I've condensed my Netflix watch list over the past few months and I've also finally been in the mood to read and actually read a book for the first time in months! Anyway enough of the intro, let's move onto the actual post...

Because I’ve spent the majority of this year at home because of my ongoing health problems, it’s safe to say I’ve managed to get through a lot of TV shows on my watchlist on Netflix and NOW TV (that’s when I don’t have brain fog and can’t concentrate anyway). As we’re now technically creeping into Autumn, it means some new TV shows are about to be released. So I thought I’d share with you 4 TV shows that I’m definitely going to be watching this Autumn and why.

Time for another catch-up kind of post on what I've been reading, watching and listening to lately. I really enjoyed writing about my recent entertainment favourites last time so I think I'm going to do this every few months.

I'll admit I still haven't been in the mood to sit down and read a book. It's so annoying because I have so many books to read that I've bought/pre-ordered but I think I've just gone off reading, to be honest. So I thought for my reading section of this post I'll just leave links to some blogs which I've been really enjoying reading recently -

Pint Sized Beauty, Food and Other Loves, Hannah Gale, Rosie's Life and The Kitty Luxe.

I've been watching quite a lot of things so this is probably where it's going to be hard for me to choose just a few things to write about. But the top of my list has got to be Reign. I've just finished re-watching it just because I was just not ready to say goodbye to it, even though it ended earlier this year. I'm also quite gutted that Stella is over because it's just a fab comedy-drama and it's just one of those relatable shows I guess. I'm also really loving the new season of Riverdale, I was worried it was going to be one of those shows when the first season is really good but the second is a let down so I'm happy I'm enjoying the new season as much as the first

I haven't really watched many films over the past few weeks, I did rewatch The Secret Life of Walter Mitty when it was on TV and fell in love with it again. It's such a feelgood kind of film, with a nice soundtrack and it just makes me want to just on a plane and go and explore. I also watched Divergent for the first time in a few years a couple of nights ago when I couldn't sleep and I forgot how good it actually is. So I'm probably going to rewatch the rest of the trilogy soon to just kind refresh my memory because I remember reading the books years ago and really enjoying them.

For music, I was super excited to find out that The Neighbourhood released a new EP. It is a little different to their older music but I like it. My favourite song on the new EP is definitely NoiseI literally can't wait for their new album because I was kind of obsessed with their last one Wiped Out! I've also been loving Bad Sounds because they're just a bit different and all of their songs are catchy and kind of sing-alongy, my favourite songs are definitely Zacharia and Enough and I've been listening to The Killers latest album Wonderful Wonderful and Liam Gallagher's As You Were too.

So it's the last day of August. I cannot believe how fast this summer and well, year has gone by in general. Before we know it Halloween things will be hitting the shops and next thing you know it's Christmas again! Anyway today's post is as described. There is a little bit of everything on this list of things so be prepared because it might seem a little all over the place. But I hope you enjoy it!

First thing is the Body Fantasies Body Mists. I think these are only available in Superdrug in the UK at the minute but I'm not 100% sure. I've only got the Japanese Cherry Blossom one right now because that was the only one available, but I am going to buy Twilight Mist when I can get my hands on it because it's out of stock online and it's never in the shop either. The Cherry Blossom one is lovely! it's not overpowering which I think is a good thing and it's smells very fresh but delicate. Price: £3.99 but are half price at the minute in Superdrug.

Next is Stranger Things. Oh my god what a show. Some people get the hype and some people don't. I definitely do! I will admit I was debating on continuing watching it after two episodes because I wasn't gripped straight away but I think after watching the third or fourth episode then I was hooked and ended up going work feeling very cranky and tired the next day haha. It's one of those shows that you have to watch it without any distractions and listen intently. Because if you miss something it will confuse you the hell out of you. Love the 80's vibe and music in this too and the children actors are so good considering they're so young. When's season two being released?

Pukka Tea is one of the best things I've found in ages. Plus it was entirely accidental find it so it makes it seem even more better. Some of you reading this might thing uh, boring. But this stuff is magic I swear. There's 20 tea bags per box, they each come in a little cute sachet and there's lots of different types in the range. Some are the basic ones like Earl Grey and English Breakfast but the ones I've got in at the minute are called: Detox, Relax and Night Time. I don't really know why this tea seems to work for me better than any other flavoured teas but it just does. The detox one seems to make my skin clear up quickly. The night time one relaxes me when I'm trying to sleep and helps to stop me overthinking so much in the middle of the night and relax obviously helps me the wind down and just feel more at ease. Definitely recommend. Prices range from about £2.39-£3.69 depending where you shop. links: http://bit.ly/2cmIBSc | http://bit.ly/2cmJ1HU | http://bit.ly/2bMQrnm

Rimmel Brow This Way is something I've already wrote about in my previous post. It's definitely grown on me even more. If you've not read my previous post then I'll just say that you do get a lot of product for the price and the colours are a good match but the brush is quite big and bulky... as you can see in my picture above. It's quite hard to work with. Definitely would say to use an old eyebrow brush (I use my old Gimme Brow brushes) But it stays on really well and doesn't flake off at all. Price: £3.99 so it's very purse friendly which is an added bonus.

So this one is tad bit embarrassing to admit but I've become quite addicted to Teen Wolf. It's like a guilty pleasure. I watched the first season about two months ago and didn't really know what to make of it and whether if I wanted to continue or not. Just because I thought it was kind of a little rip off twilight but with wolves being the main focus and a little cliche in some parts. But a few weeks ago because of being absolutely nothing decent to watch at the minute series-wise... apart from Pretty Little Liars. I thought I'd get into season two, and now I've just started season 4 the other day (yes I know. I've binged watched it) and it's definitely getting better each season. It's story line is interesting and it's like comedy/horror/fantasy all thrown into one. Best thing to say is give it a try. The first two seasons are on Netflix.

People say that curvier, chubbier, fatter (whichever way you want to phrase it) people shouldn't wear horizontal stripes/lines because "it makes them look bigger and wider". I've heard and seen that everywhere since I was younger. Which is why for so many years I've just avoided and not given any tops or dresses with stripes a chance at all. But all of sudden over the past few months I seem to have collected quite a few and they've become staples in my wardrobe and the weird thing is... they actually suit me. So when I wear any of them they are just instantly a confidence booster. I tend to wear them with either a long and big necklace just to spruce them up a bit more. But yeah, new favourite print. Who'd a thought it?

My faves are in the picture above and they're all from supermarkets: left - asda £10 but isn't available anymore | middle was £7 but now has gone into sale and right £5 - both from sainsburys

Colleen Hoover. This woman's books are amazing. I haven't read all of her newest book It Ends With Us yet because I've had a lot of things going on and haven't really felt like reading to be honest. But I've read almost all of her books and you literally feel all of the emotions all the way through them. You laugh, you sob, you feel angry, confused and more. Her books get into your soul and you don't get that with every book you read. She's one of a kind in my opinion. My favourite books by her are: Confess, Hopeless and Maybe Someday.

Hello, hello to my new favourite band... Blossoms. Love their new album so so so much. After spending a few weeks away from everything just because my mind wasn't into doing literally anything, I finally started to feel better and more like myself and then remembering about their album being released was such a good feeling. Instant mood booster. It's one of them albums which you can listen to in your car or when you're half asleep at night or to have a good sing along to in the shower (recommend Charlemagne for that). I'm so proud of them for getting their album to number one in the UK too. They definitely deserved it! Favourite songs: Honey Sweet, Deep Grass, Texia

So there's my August faves. What were yours?
