12 Ideas For a Cosy Self Care Evening

-This post contains no sponsored content-

There’s nothing better than a self-care evening, especially if you’ve had a stressful day or week. Sometimes we just need to take some time out to focus solely on ourselves and practising self-care can really help both your physical and mental health. In today’s post, I’m sharing some self-care ideas that I would personally say work best in the evening but obviously, it depends on what time works best for you. I’ve tried to include a variety of different things so you can pick and choose what you like the sound of the most and you could build your own little self-care routine from the ideas.

Switch to cosy and relaxing lighting

First up is to make your home feel all cosy and relaxing and a good way to do that is by adding some warm glowy lights and some candles. It also helps that the darker nights are drawing in so that helps to make the evenings feel more cosy.

Treat yourself to your favourite meal and/or dessert

Once you’ve finished work for the day (or whatever you’ve been up to during the day), you could treat yourself to your fave meal and/or dessert which will automatically put you in a better mood and I suppose it can be something to look forward to during the day as well.

Put away your electronic devices

Put away your phone (and any other devices) to stop you from being distracted and so you can focus solely on yourself. It's so easy to pick up your phone and check your messages or have a little scroll and then the next thing you know, hours have flown by.

Have a bubble bath or a pamper shower

Take some time out and have a nice, hot bubble bath or a long pamper shower and use all of your fave products. I tend to save my more expensive and/or fancier products for these kinds of baths or showers so it makes it feel a bit more special. So for me personally, I save my Lush, Rituals and Molton Brown products for my self-care pamper evenings.

Do some extra pampering steps

You could also pop on a face mask, apply some teeth whitening strips or give yourself a manicure and/or pedicure too!

Massage your skin

Help your body relax and relieve any achy muscles by massaging some nicely scented body oil or lotion into your skin. You could also maybe do a Gua Sha facial massage which has many benefits. You can read more about how to do a Gua Sha massage and it's benefits here.

Put on your comfies

Pop on your most comfortable, cosy pyjamas or loungewear to help make you feel super relaxed.

Do some journaling

You could also do some journaling. I’ll be honest, journaling isn’t for me, I’ve tried it many times before but it’s just not something I can do every day, it kind of feels like another thing to tick off on my to-do list. However, I know some people find it a good way to unwind after a long day.

Use aromatherapy room spray or pillow mist

Spray an aromatherapy room mist around your room or a pillow mist on your pillows and bedsheets. My long-time favourites are the Feather and Down Sweet Dreams and Breathe Well Pillow Mists and I also really like the Sunday Rain Sleep Easy Pillow and Room Mist as well.

Do some meditation or Yoga

You could also take some time out to do some meditation and/or yoga. I personally find meditation really useful, especially if I’m feeling quite stressed or anxious, I find meditating is easier when I’m listening to meditation music. Yoga is a great way to relax and also a good way to work on your balance and coordination. It can also help you to lose weight, increase flexibility, de-stress and sleep better.

Read, watch TV or a film

Take this time to read, catch up on a TV show you’ve been meaning to watch or rewatch an old fave, you could also do some gaming or even do a bit of everything if you’ve got the time!

Get some extra sleep in

If you feel you really need it then you could take this time to get some extra sleep in. Whether it’s a little nap or going to bed a few hours earlier than normal. Rest is productive.
