Mother’s Day is fast approaching with it landing on the 27th of March this year, so now is the perfect time to think about what your mum or the mother figure(s) in your life would love to receive this Mother’s Day and what kind of gift really suits their day-to-day life too. In today’s post, I’ve teamed up with Boots to talk about some Mother's Day gifts that will suit a New Mum, Glam Mum, Active Mum and a Homebody Mum to hopefully help give you some ideas if you're struggling on what to choose.

The last thing you want to do is forget about somebody important and experience the awkward one-sided gift exchange. While we can’t help you with that level of forgetfulness, we can offer you some tips on buying gifts for your Bristolian friends and visitors to this fine location. Here, we’ve made a list of 4 of the best gift ideas this Christmas time, so that you can be sure to find something for even the most complicated folks.

Mother's Day is fast approaching as it lands on the 14th March this year, so if you celebrate Mother's Day and haven't bought anything for your mum or mother figure in your life yet then this post might be helpful if you're stuck for ideas. In this post, I'm going to be talking about an array of gifts that I've chosen for my lovely mum. From perfume, skincare and bath and body care products which are all available from Boots. I've chosen a mixture of products that I know she likes and uses already as well as a couple of products that I'm pretty sure she'll like because they seem like her cup of tea. As well as the gifts I've chosen, I'm also going to be talking about what we're planning on doing for Mother's Day this year as well as it's obviously going to be a little different again this year as we're still living with restrictions in place due to COVID.

In today's post, I'm talking about some lovely gift ideas for Mother's Day which lands on the 14th of March this year. I've got some gift sets to talk about, some gifts that seem to always go down well without fail as well as a few bits and pieces which you could include in a self-care hamper if you're planning on creating one for your mum, grandma or mother figure this year.
-This post is in collaboration with Kitty Cats Joy-
You might have noticed from the Instagram stories of my cats just chilling around the house and the array of cat-related homeware bits I have in my blog photos, I'm a bit of a crazy cat lady. I do like dogs too (just as an FYI) but I've always grown up with at least one cat in my life and I've never owned a dog. So when Kitty Cats Joy got in touch to tell me about their small art and gift business and what they have to offer, I couldn't say no to working with them.

Mother's Day is just around the corner again and if you're stuck for ideas on what to buy for your mum, nan or any mother figure(s) in your life then hopefully this gift guide should help you out! Most of the things included are beauty related but I have also added in a couple of other ideas too.

I don't think you can really go wrong with buying your mum some new Slippers
and/or Pyjamas for Mother's Day. It's basically a fail-safe option really, isn't it? I tend to buy pyjamas from George at Asda usually as I find that they are nice quality and reasonably priced. I used to buy slippers for both myself and others from George at Asda too but they're sizing has been off lately so I've been buying slippers from either B&M for around £4-5 or Morrison's Nutmeg range for around £7-8 depending on the style you go for. The slippers featured in the photo are from B&M and were £3.99.

Sometimes if I'm stuck for ideas then I like to build a little Beauty/Self Care Hamper for my mum for mother's day. So here are a couple of things which you could add into a hamper if you decide to go down that route -

- Miss Patisserie Bath Bomb starting from £5
I used to love buying from LUSH but I just think they've gotten so expensive and the last couple of bath bombs I've bought from LUSH have been duds so I tend to shop elsewhere for bath bombs now. My fave place to buy them from is Miss Patisserie because there's a good array of options to choose from and they always look really pretty once they're in the bath. They've also just released a new array of products to they're already impressive line-up.

- Technic Reusable Makeup Remover Cloth RRP £2.49
My mum still uses face wipes to remove her makeup and it drives me up the wall. So I've decided to buy her a makeup remover cloth to try because she seems convinced that it won't work as well for her or it will disagree with her sensitive skin and I'm prepared to prove her wrong haha! So if you are trying to get someone to be more eco-friendly then this might be a good gift idea to add into a hamper.

- Dr.Paw Paw 2-in-1 Scrub and Nourish Lip Scrub and Original Balm RRP £8.95*
I love Dr. Paw Paw, their original balm is one of my all-time fave multi-use balms. The 2-in-1 pot is perfect for any mum on the go as it features a sugar scrub on the top and the original balm on the bottom which you can use as a normal daily balm or as a lip treatment overnight.

Featuring Happy Birthday!

Featuring Cabernet Sauvignon
- Wax Melts from Foxglove Fragrances*
I think candles or wax melts are always a good gift idea for someone no matter what the occasion and wax melts are the perfect size to pop in a self-care hamper. There's nothing nicer than settling down in the evening after a bubble bath with a nicely scented wax melt melting away. Foxglove Fragrances are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free and they sell so many different scents from Biscoff, Blue Lenor, Grape Soda Pop, Happy Birthday!, Hot Cocoa, Kreed and many, many more. They kindly sent me over five different wax melts to try (Blue Lenor*, Kreed*, Cabernet Sauvignon*, Strawberry Lily* and Happy Birthday!*) and I literally can't choose a favourite. They're highly scented but not in an overbearing way. I can't wait to try more scents from them once I've used up the ones I currently have! Prices start from £2.75.

- Beauty Laundrette Eau Yes! Body Mist RRP £3.66 (on intro offer)
Something else that I've recently discovered which I think would fit into a beauty/self-care hamper nicely is the Beauty Laundrette Eau Yes! Body Mist which is exclusively available from Superdrug. The best way to describe the scent is a fizzy fresh floral scent which I'll admit I wasn't expecting but I do really like it and I think it's a perfect spring scent.

Yardley London have also just added two more fragrances to their Flowerful range which I think would make a lovely Mother's Day gift. The two new fragrances are Exquisite Peony* which is described as a floral bouquet of freesia, rose, jasmine and peony with added citrus on a warm base of cedarwood and blonde woods and Opulent Rose* which is described a voluptuous bouquet of enchanting roses and fresh-cut stems with a touch of sensual carnation and a strong base of white musk, amber and patchouli and they are both gorgeous. I'm already a big fan of the Flowerful range because they are affordable and the scent sticks around all day. Any time I've worn the Elegant Iris scent which is also from the Flowerful range, I'm always asked what perfume I'm wearing (RRP £21).

Sanctuary have released some lovely limited edition gift sets and in this post, I'm talking about one in particular which is the Perfect Pamper Box RRP £20* which contents are worth just over £40 but you can buy it from Sainsbury's, Amazon, Look Fantastic and Very. It comes in a gorgeous well-presented box with 5 products inside. The products inside are - Body Scrub, Body Wash, Wet Skin Moisture Miracle, Liquid Gold Rose Radiance Elixir and Heel Balm. I think it's such a bargain and I know for a fact that a lot of mums would love this as a gift this Mother's Day. It really is the perfect pamper box!

Another lovely gift set that you could treat your mum to is the Tropic "A Walk on the Beach" Collection Gift Set RRP £24* which includes their Ocean Fizz Foot Soak, Polishing Foot Pebble and their Repairing Foot Remedy (which you use in that order). This would make a great gift for any mums who are on their feet a lot! I know for a fact my mum will love this gift set because she is always saying how much her feet ache so this trio will be nice for her to use after a long day. The products also smell really nice, it's one of those gift sets that you can smell before you open it (I think it's the foot pebble soap) and it really does have a fresh ocean-y scent. It also comes in a nicely presented box (pictured above).

-This post is in collaboration with I Just Love It and also contains a gifted item, all opinions are my own-
I love Stranger Things and I'll go as far to say that it's one of my favourite TV shows. I do like a lot of sci-fi/thriller/horror kind of shows and Stranger Things is definitely all of the above. With the latest season landing on Netflix just a few days ago, I thought it would be a perfect time to talk about my Stranger Things inspired mug from gift company I Just Love It who offer a personalised touch to the gifts that they sell.

I was kindly sent over their their "In a World Full of Tens Be An Eleven" Stranger Things inspired mug RRP £9.99* recently which I've been using non-stop since it arrived. I love that the quote mentions one of my fave characters from the show which is Eleven because she's so sassy and unique and I also love the little Christmas lights below the words which is obviously linked to where it all began way back in season one.

It's a great mug to drink your coffee from first thing in the morning when you're feeling a little upside down (get it?)Their mugs are made from high quality ceramic and they recommend to hand wash them only. For me personally it's the perfect sized mug for both tea and coffee. It's also pretty lightweight which I like as I'm always up and down the stairs making a cup of tea or coffee as I spend a lot of my time in my room when I'm working and I guess it just makes life easier especially when I'm not feeling so great with my chronic pain.

I Just Love It currently have 3 Stranger Things Inspired Mugs there's the "In a World Full of Tens Be An Eleven", "Morning Are For Coffee And Contemplation" and "Bob Newby Superhero". So there's definitely a mug for any Stranger Things fan. I think they make a great affordable gift and all of them can be personalised. As you can see with mine I've just had my name put inside. It's also a good way to let someone know that the mug is yours and so it's a good gift for someone who works in an office or something along those lines. There's nothing more annoying than someone stealing your cup or mug in a work place environment is there?

It also arrived quicker than I expected with it being a personalised item from when I confirmed the collaboration. In total it only took 4 days to arrive!

I'll definitely be using I Just Love It when I want to buy a gift for a special occasion and I'm glad to have discovered them. I prefer to buy more personalised gifts when it's a special birthday or a wedding/anniversary and I do have a few special birthdays and a wedding coming up this year.

Do you like buying and/or receiving personalised gifts too?

Today’s post is kind of a mini review which I don’t actually do that often but I just wanted to basically shout from the rooftops about the Glam & Style Diamond Hair Straighteners* because I have been using them over the past month or so and I’m so impressed with them. Not only do they look nicer than my more expensive straighteners, they also work just as well but they are a lot cheaper at £19.99 on Amazon.

I'm a total newbie to Charlotte Tilbury so when I received a PR package from the Charlotte Tilbury PR team I was super excited, as expected! So today's post is all about my first impressions and thoughts on the products that I kindly received recently.

Burt's Bees are one of my favourite natural brands, they're totally cruelty-free and I just love the packaging of everything they release and there are so many unique scents. They have so many great gifts available for Christmas this year. Whether you fancy treating yourself or treating someone else, there's definitely something for everybody. I recently received two gorgeous gift sets from their Christmas range and today's post is kind of an unboxing and my thoughts about what's inside each gift set.

Fathers Day Gift Guide *

in , , , , by Kirsty Milward, 23.5.17

So let's face it, men in general, are hard to buy gifts for. For women, it's a lot easier, a bath set or some new pyjamas and we're happy, right? So today is a blog post with a few ideas on what to buy for your dad (which they'll hopefully love). Also here's your reminder that father's day this year is on the 18th June in the UK.

First up on the gift idea list is aftershave. I think aftershave is a great gift and you can pick it up for different prices from most drugstores or online and there's a scent for everyone. You can pick up some lovely mens perfumes from L'Occitane. You can buy them either on their own or in a gift set. L'Occintane's fragrances for men are made up of blends of wood, spices and herbs making them the perfect masculine aftershaves and would make the perfect gift for your dad.

I've chosen the three to feature on this post which I think sound lovely -

Eav Des Bavx £46 - A warm, charming scent with the top notes of pink pepper and cardamom. The middle notes of Cyprus and incense and the base notes of vanilla and tonka bean.

L'Homme Cologne Cedrat £48 - A refreshing citrusy, aquatic scent with icy notes of mint and woody spices. Including violet leaf, lavender, black pepper, pink peppercorn and ginger. Also, woody notes of cedar, amber and musk to soften the strong scent.

Eau De L'Occitan £46 - An aftershave perfect for men (and also women, win!) its top notes contain black pepper and lavender with the middle notes contain nutmeg (giving off a burnt wood scent, which I personally love) and spicy cinnamon. Also containing the base notes of tonka beans to again soften the scent a little.

Next on my list is experience days. I think these type of gifts are great if you have siblings and you can all add money in to make up for a experience day. At High Flying Helicopter, you guessed it... you can either purchase a Pilot Starter Lesson, Discovery Helicopter Lesson or a London Helicopter Tour. Here's a little more about some of the experiences available -

Pilot Starter Lesson - You can take to the skies with a pilot and discover what it's really like to fly. The pilot starter lesson is all about learning the controls, features and operation of the impressive machines.  The total experience time (safety briefing, introductory lesson and flight) is 30 minutes long and the price is £120 for everything which I think is great for any adrenaline junkie dad!

London Tour - From £150 per person you can get the bird's eye view of all of the major London Landmarks. The first class pilots will show you the iconic London Landmarks for the once in a lifetime experience. The duration of the flight is 35 minutes.

They also offer other options too and you can read about them and the experiences above here

Another gift idea is a bath/shower set. You get these up from most places when it gets closer to Fathers Day but if you wanted to get something a little different then you can pick up some lovely shower/bath products from The Soap Kitchen at a great price. They sell lots of different scents suitable for men; from Orange and Cedarwood to Peppermint and Tea tree, Sandalwood plus more, so you'll be guaranteed to find something for your dad. Including body washes, shampoos and also shaving soaps (you could even pop a few things in your basket for yourself too!).

For the Dad who is either super organised already or needs to learn to be more organised lol, why not pick up one of these Eco-Friendly pouches from Eliza Eliza? Perfect for travelling or just keeping things more organised in general, these handmade pouches can be used for plenty of things and are made from organic hemp and cotton and are perfect for any on the go dad. Also, you would be supporting a small business too. Eliza Eliza also sells Eco-friendly coin purses. The prices start from £21 and I've kindly been given a 10% discount code to share with my followers too. the code is: ASTOLDBYKIRSTY

So if you want to make it look like you've made a lot more effort than you actually have instead of popping into B&M a day or two before then you can pick up the perfect fathers day card at an affordable price online. You can pick up these professionally printed funny cards from Avolaugh Designs here and you'll also be supporting a small new business too! They are only £3.20 + postage which I think is a bargain. You can also pick up phone cases too (which would maybe be a good gift too).

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

It's a few days after Christmas now and I'm still feeling like an beached whale (but that just proves that I've had a good Christmas, right?) I'm having an pyjama day, catching up on tv and watching films all day. It's my first Christmas whilst I've been blogging so I thought I'd do one of these posts. I know some people don't like these because they think the blogger whose writing them are just bragging about what they got. So I'm saying it now, I'm not bragging at all! I like reading these and watching them on Youtube. I love seeing what people have got and it gives me ideas on what to spend any Christmas money on too lol! I ran a poll on Twitter a few days ago because I was indecisive about doing this post and the majority vote was that I should sod the haters and do it, so here it is!

I'm still in shock at the amount of presents I received this year. I literally love all of them, so trying to choose my favourites to feature in this was pretty hard to do. But here they are!

I got a really lovely, oversized aztec print wrap over which is from Matalan from my parents, a blue snake print bag from one of my aunties (as well as some bath goodies too) and both of them together look so nice! I also got some Yankee Candle wax melts, AVON Cherish Perfume, a Baileys tin which contains a mini Baileys bottle and a chocolate, LUSH bath bombs and the It's Raining Men Shower Gel and I picked up the Bath and Body Works dupe candle from B&M which is an Marshmallow Fireside scent which I bought with some of my Christmas money on Boxing Day.

I love my K personalised jewellery dish I got, (if you saw my Christmas Wish List earlier this month, it was on there) I also got an LUSH Blooming Beautiful Gift Set from my auntie and uncle/godparents which contains Rose Jam Bubbleroom and an Honey Bee bath bomb which I'm looking forward to trying, Other presents which I got from my parents were the Soap and Glory Eyes Box which contains Supercat Eyeliner, Archery Brow Tint and Pencil,Sexy Kohl Eyeliner and Thick and Fast Collagen Mascara, LUSH Charity Pot Moisturiser and the Real Techniques Core Collection brush set.

I also got the Bedhead Styleshots Epic Volume Conditioner (which is definitely one of my fave conditioners!) and an Soap and Glory conditioner which I'm looking forward to trying, it smells so fresh and fruity! and I received Dirty Dancing on DVD from one of my auntie's because it's one of my favourite films and I was literally saying to her the other week that It's one of my faves and I didn't actually have the DVD, well now I have. She also gave me some money too (which I may or may not have already spent in the sales)

I also got the Soap and Glory Soaper Heroes gift set, Jingle Gel Rock from The Body Shop (I bought myself one of these last week. oops! but now I'm all stocked up) Some H&M goodies: Raspberry Leaf Face Mask and Winter Fig Body Mist, Primark candles and a super soft purple blanket which I know my cats will probably claim once it's on my bed. Plus I got an 500g bottle of Rose Jam yay!

So there's my favourite presents I received this Christmas. I shall be reviewing some products I got sometime soon too. I'm literally stocked up on Soap and Glory and LUSH products for the unforeseeable future lol! Also I've bought some things in the sales with my Christmas money so I'm going to be posting an What I got in the Christmas/Boxing Day Sales post once everything has arrived!

Did everyone have a good Christmas? Can't believe it's all over for another year. *sad emoji face* (Btw if you've done an What I Got For Christmas post too then link me!)
